Poll: What’s Your Opinion On 9 Years Old [or Younger] Having Phones?

   Totally, completely, and absolutely ridiculous.
   Those parents should have lessons on how to take care of their own children; the same parents that are all up and about when receiving their phone bills. What do they expect? It’s like having children taking care of a candy store.
   Yes, a small, non expensive phone to be used for emergencies, yes, totally agree, but besides that everything else it’s totally Not Necessary whatsoever.

   spoiled brats. i was born in 1998 so i belong to this generation of brats. it sucks. i didnt get my first phone(and i still have it) until i was twelve. it’s a crappy virign mobile flip phone. cost 10 bucks. im probably not getting a new phone till im a sophomore, and its not gonna be no iphone.
   but yeah, in 4th grade a few kids had these 100 dollar phones(some even ahd the iphone) and i was like wtf spoiled people.
   BTW: im not complaining about having a crappy phone, i dont even use it that much and dont really want a better phone.

   I highly wouldn’t suggest it. im 21 and i had to wait till i was 17 to buy it with my own money. I’m thankful my parents didn’t get me one, Cause look at all these kids these days. they are all running around like they own there parents. Id wait until they are over 15. But that’s just my opinion. I was thankful after i had to wait

   I wasn’t even thinking of cell phones when I was 9. You don’t have nobody to call at that age except for like maybe a friend and your parents…unless that’s what you want to use it for. Like say, if the kid has an emergency and needs help, I could see why the parents wouldn’t mind buying it. But most kids who want a cell at 9 probably just want to keep up with what’s cool in the world.

   I personally don’t agree with it. Especially with buying the smart phone’s.. I feel that technology is consuming today’s generation, I’m sure 9 year old’s can have fun and play outdoors. Also, with all the cyber bullying today I find it ridiculous as well.

   My 7 year old bro has a kids phone called a ladybug which has 2 buttons, Mom and Dad. He uses it cause our parents are split up, so he can call my parents while he’s at the other one’s house. That’s what it’s designed for and that is all it does.
   Apart from that they’re stupid.

   well my opinion is that they should have to earn there fone and when they can earn it they can get it i dont mean earn it my doing house chores i mean mowing lawns and earning their money and they pay half their fone bill every month that way they can learn the meaning of a dollar

   Well I would think it’s harder to kidnap a 9 year old walking home from the bus stop if he’s talking to his mom. But the should have to go phones like I did in the fourth grade.

   i agree its ridiculous. i’m 15 and i never use a phone. i had a couple but i dont see the point in them. i plan on living my life without ever using a mobile phone again.

    I think when the kid starts high school, has a proper social life and starts going out with friends un supervised that’s perfectly acceptable, any younger it seems a little pointless.

    I agree, a young kid only needs it for emergencies. I never got one or needed one until I got into high school. And my parents never had one when they were young and they are doing just fine.

    My little sister is 9 and she has a cell phone. I didnt even get my first cell phone till I was 12… and I needed it because sometimes my mom wasnt able to pick me up.
